Second ultrasound

I am horrible at keeping up with this blog! It's been 2 weeks since my ultrasound and I am just now getting around to posting anything about it. Let's get right to the pictures!

This is the "alien" shot! So funny! What I love is that you can see his or her little arm and all five fingers right above the face, like he or she is waving to the camera. (I'm so sick of saying "he or she"! I want to know!)

Profile view--that's the hand right above the mouth.

The ultrasound was the first of two for the nuchal screen to check for certain birth defects like Downs syndrome. We weren't worried about it, and it wasn't a mandatory test, but we're getting 2 ultrasounds out of it, so why not!? It also requires blood work that I did the day of the ultrasound, and then I go back on February 14 to do the second round of blood work. THEN on February 21 is the second ultrasound where we will find out whether this baby is a boy or a girl. I cannot wait! I'm ready to start buying stuff!

Last weekend we drove to Round Rock to spend the weekend at Laura and Kyle's. Some friends of theirs threw a couple's baby shower for them. Conly and Amanda also came down for it. It was definitely a full house, and we had such a good time. Three pregnant women--how much more fun can you get!

Here's the 3 of us at the baby shower--34 weeks, 26 weeks, 12 weeks

And this is just a sweet picture. Aaron miraculously got Garrett and Trent to go down for a nap at the same time, and Laura and I couldn't resist getting a picture.

Dr's appointment

I had my second doctor's appointment on Friday. I have only gained a pound in 4 weeks since my last appointment, which I was shocked to learn because this baby is HUNGRY! I have to eat all the time! I'm SOOOOO happy that I am actually eating this time because at this point in my first pregnancy, I felt like crap and didn't want to eat. So far, I don't always feel 100% great, but I have only gotten sick once and for the most part I feel pretty good. Quite a change from last time. As long as I keep food in my stomach, I am okay.

We got to hear the baby's heartbeat at my appointment! It was a strong 176 bpm! It took a while to find it, and I was afraid the nurse was going to give up. I was 9w2d, and you can't always hear it with the Doppler at that point. So I was sitting there thinking, please keep looking! And finally she found it, and it sounded glorious! I love that sound. My BP was 114/70 which is very good. Everything that they tested for at the first appointment came back fine and dandy! I can't believe I'm already almost 10 weeks. This is already flying by. Scary to think about! But exciting!

I also have an appointment with another doctor on January 17 to get my first trimester nuchal testing done. It basically tests for abnormalities in the baby--not required, but hey, we're not paying for it, so we might as well! It requires 2 ultrasounds at different times (I think about 2 weeks apart) and bloodwork also. So the first round is 1/17 and I have to make another appointment for the next one. My doctor told me that the doctor performing the ultrasound should be able to tell us the sex of the baby in the second ultrasound! How exciting! I can't wait to find out so we can start really planning!

Preggers

As most of the readers of this blog already know, yes, I am carrying Baby Berger #2! I am 9 weeks along and am due August 6. We are so excited!

Here's my first ultrasound pic.

It was done at 6 weeks, so it's very, very small. I got to see the baby's heartbeat, and I got to hear it too, which is my favorite part! My next appointment is this Friday, January 4, and I'm sure we'll get to hear the heartbeat with a Doppler.

We had an awesome Christmas just the 3 of us. I think we stayed in our PJ's until about 6:00 that evening...a very lazy day! But we had so much fun just spending time together. I love my family so much!

Trent's 4th birthday was yesterday. I cannot believe he is already 4 years old. He is such a big boy, and I can already tell he is going to be an awesome big brother. He's so freakin' sweet! He got a new bike for his birthday--a big boy bike! Here he is with his cool helmet on.

We also went last Sunday to Playhouse Disney Live at the Toyota Center. It was a lot of fun for Trent to see all his favorite characters. Here he is with Daddy, watching the show, followed by some pics of the show itself.
