I got the shugga!!

In case you're wondering what the heck "the shugga" is, it's a line from Last Comic Standing last season. Lavell Crawford (the really big black guy) was talking about his mother worrying about him getting diabetes, and she calls it "getting the sugar", but it sounds like "shugga", as in "Oh, my baby's got the shugga."

So....I had my glucose test last Thursday....and I flunked! Which basically means my body is not processing sugar the way it should, and I have gestational diabetes. It's no wonder with how much I was pumping into my body on a daily basis. So I have to cut my sugar intake which is proving to be very hard since my birthday was last weekend and of course there was cake and leftover cake, and my mom's best friend gave me a big bowl of her awesome cookie dough. So I am taking it one day at a time, trying to eat more veggies and less sugar. The doctor also found out that I am slightly anemic, so I have to take iron pills too. I have to go back to the doctor on Tuesday to take an even longer glucose test. The first one was an hour long where I just had to drink a sugary drink (it tastes like a sugary Gatorade--it's actually not too bad) and they took some blood an hour later. This time, it's THREE hours long! And it's a more sugary drink. I'm definitely taking a book to read. Oh, and I also can't eat or drink (except water) for 8 hours before, which means I can't have breakfast, which means I will be STARVING by the time it's over. The things we women do for our babies.
I had a great birthday. We left right after my appointment on Thursday to go to my mom's for the weekend. We stopped to see Sam Houston on the way up there. That's me standing in front of him.

On Saturday, we went to see Conly and Amanda's new baby boy, Ryder. He was 3 days old when we saw him. He was born April 23 at 10:32 and weighed about 8 lbs. Here are a couple of pics of him. He's a good looking kid!

Here's Trent saying goodbye to Romeo (my mom's dog) on Sunday.

And saying goodbye to Grams

Aaron and I went to dinner at Zio's when we got back home. This is us before we left. Trent took this picture--he did pretty good!

And last, this is Aaron with Trent and his friend Kennedy the other night when Kennedy and her mom, dad, and sister came over to hang out (I was at work, of course--60 more days and I'll be done with that!). Anyway, I just thought this picture was cute.
